Obituary of Betty Jane Rushlow

June 6, 1926 – May 14, 2018

Betty J. Rushlow, Age 91 of Wyandotte.

Beloved wife of the late Thomas Rushlow. Loving mother of Tom (Patty) Rushlow, Linda (Larry) Barli, Gary (Mary) Rushlow, Brad (Tricia) Rushlow and Beth (David) Morgan. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

FAMILY TRIBUTE

Our mom, Betty (Stergalas) was born in Wyandotte and that’s where she spent her entire life. She had a fondness for her hometown and the many wonderful memories that were created there. She married the love of her life, our dad, Tom at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on June 19, 1943.  Wyandotte is where they welcomed each of their children Tom, Linda (Barli), Gary, and twins, Brad and Beth (Morgan).
Her job was being a dedicated wife and mother, raising our family with faith and love. Our house was always spotless and although money was generally tight we never felt deprived.  It was a well-known fact that anyone who messed with her children would have to face the wrath of Betty. Mom was a determined woman who was tough on discipline, strong on morals, and dedicated to keeping our home spotless.
She and our dad enjoyed the company of many wonderful friends and relatives. They belonged to the Moose Lodge and Pennsalt Club where they enjoyed socializing, dancing (especially polkas) and bowling. They loved country music, Bingo, playing the slots at local casinos, and they were avid Detroit Tiger’s fans.  Mom’s favorite singers included Perry Como, Conway Twitty, Elvis, and Don Williams.
When Dad passed away in 2007, after a blessed 64 years of marriage, mom continued to enjoy her family, casino bus trips and Bingo. She was an independent woman who had an “I can do it” attitude. She approached each task with confidence and determination (sometimes to the dismay of her children who were worried about her).
She always felt sad that we never knew our biological grandmothers and her goal was to be “the best grandma possible”.  Her 15 grandchildren always felt her pride in their accomplishments and her love for them.  Needless to say that goal continued and was accomplished with her 30 great grandchildren.
We love you Mom and we’ll miss you every minute of every day until we are reunited in heaven.
