Obituary of David B. Luff

December 30, 1952 – June 29, 2017

David B. Luff. Age 64 of Riverview.

Beloved husband of Penny Luff. Loving father of Emma Quinn, and Evan (Dale) Luff. Dearest step-father of Craig (Heather McWilliams) Alcala and Alicia Alcala. Dear brother of James (Kimberley) Luff and Brenda (Timothy) Ness. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Geneva Luff.

FAMILY TRIBUTE

Consistently smiling, welcoming, and generous, David Luff was a good friend to many. He brightened conversation, always had a story to tell, and spoke through his actions. Dave's family was an important part of his life, and he appreciated the time he shared with them. He was especially proud to take care of his wife and loved her dearly. He also loved animals and was a good poppy to his pups.
Following in his father's footsteps, Dave started working at the US Army Corps of Engineers and stayed for many decades. He appreciated the challenges of his assigned missions, but even more so relished the people with whom he worked. He was particularly fond of diving & opening/closing the Soo Locks. His second career with Enterprise gave him an opportunity to explore Michigan, other parts of the Midwest, and Canada, and savor food from many different places. He always said he "knows a little about a lot of things".
Dave pursued many interests, from hunting, collecting guns and getting away from it all in the woods, to playing cribbage, watching Wheel of Fortune & Family Feud, and reading sci-fi books. He loved golfing and enjoying a few Yuenglings with friends. He had an admittedly "weird" sense of humor and loved to laugh with others. Whether your path crossed his in high school, at work, on the golf course, or at the dinner table, it was easy to feel his contagious cheerfulness. He didn't take himself too seriously, was easy going and tried not to let things get him down. He was a confident man and spoke his mind, and was always ready to give you a great big bear hug.
Dave touched the lives of many people, and he will be missed greatly.
