Obituary of Peter J. Ranson

August 23, 1938 – November 28, 2020

Peter J. Ranson Age 82 of Lincoln Park.

Peter J. Ranson, 82, of Lincoln Park, went to be with his Lord on November 28, 2020 after a swift and mighty battle with Covid 19.  Peter was born on August 23, 1938 to Emmett & Madeline Ranson of Ecorse. He joined the United States Army in 1961 and became a Paratrooper with the 101st Airborne. He served time in the Korean War and reached the rank of Sergeant by the time his service ended in 1964.

He married Linda Pack of Wyandotte on April 18, 1969, and they had two children together, Jeffery and Gloria. They resided in Lincoln Park. He worked as an electrician at McLouth Steel in Trenton for 33 years, and at Rouge Steel in Dearborn for another 22 years before retiring in 2012.

Peter was humble and selfless. He loved his family, and cherished his faith, dearly. He enjoyed many years of bowling and golf. He loved music, parties, and dancing. And, like many of us, tormented himself with Lions football on Sundays. You could almost always find him outside working in the yard, as he loved to keep himself busy.

Peter is survived by his wife Linda, his son Jeffery, and his daughter Gloria. His grandchildren Phillip, Celeste, Bradley, Kelsey, Noah, and Stevie. His sister Betty (Jack) Henderson, brother David, and sister Mary Kay (Mike) Walerowicz. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents Emmett & Madeline Ranson, brother Charles “Babe” Ranson, and sister Joan (Ed) Messineo.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to help with expenses at GoFundMe.com for the fundraiser “In Honor of Pete Ranson”.

Thank you to the entire 4th floor staff at Beaumont Dearborn for their tireless efforts to provide care and comfort to Peter and his family.
