Obituary of Marian R. Hogan

Marian Hogan, 97 of Morrice, MI died peacefully on Saturday morning 3/28/2020. Marian was born in Brazil, Indiana on 3/10/1923 to Rholla and Mary Biggs.

Preceded in death (6/18/2017) beloved Husband of nearly 67 years, Benjamin Hogan and her Sister, Lucy (Ernest) Weaver.

Survived by Children:  Carol (Alan) Morehead, James Daar, Nancy Hogan and Bill (Wendy) Hogan.  Grandchildren: David (Hyesu) Morehead, Breanna (Will) Kolar and Katelyn Hogan.  Nephews: Michael (Mary Lou) Bowman, David (Denise) Nadler and Tom (Barb) Nadler.

Marian loved her family and had the gift to make everyone around her feel so much better. Mom was an avid reader, letter writer and had a great sense of humor.  She loved going on singalongs with daughter Nan.  She was well known for her baking, especially pumpkin pie -Bill’s favorite. She insisted on taking family pictures even when we had food in our mouths.  She loved her sweets either butter pecan ice cream or popcorn and Vernors for the bedtime snack and don’t forget her favorite black licorice.

Mom was always able to find something positive to say to others in every situation and was always grateful.  She was a member of the Durand, MI congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and shared her hope with others:

“And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning not outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”  Revelation 21:4

Her secret and advice for such a long and happy life was that true happiness comes from giving to others, don’t sweat the small stuff, find contentment and get your hair done every Wednesday.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Worldwide Work for humanitarian activities at JW.Org.
